Enabling Auto Dial Backup on VeriFone Terminals

When using certified VeriFone Vx terminal to process transactions where a phone line is available,  we recommend running a dialup telephone line that kicks in as backup if the Internet connection does not communicate with the server. Merchant operators can modify these settings on the terminal as follows:

  1. Verify a phone line (not Ethernet or Cat5 cable) is properly connected to the phone jack either underneath or in the back of the terminal. The phone jack port generally has an icon of a telephone above it.
  2. Launch the loyalty program by selecting the loyalty application at the root menu screen to access the loyalty main menu where Record Sale, Balance Inquiry and Load Value functions are displayed. Press the MORE purple button and select Setup Menu.
  3. Select MODEM and when prompted, enter default Manager Password of 92266831 and press Enter. If you already changed the default Manager password, then enter the new password value here instead of 92266831.
  4. Select NEXT until you see DIAL BACKUP? displayed. Click EDIT and observe value. The value should be set to 0 to disable auto dial backup and 1 to enable.
  5. Click Done or the Enter button to save changes and exit back to main menu.
