Configuring Zebra Bar Code Scanner for Virtual Terminal

Perform the following steps:
1 - Download and install Zebra’s 123Scan Utility for Windows from this link. Choose appropriate version whether you have 32 or 64 bit Windows system.  

2 - Plug your Zebra bar code scanner into an available USB port.  

3 - Launch the 123Scan Utility.  

4 - From the Start tab, click ‘Create new configuration file’ button.

5 - Click 'My scanner is connected via USB cable'

6 - Select your scanner from the Select a Plug-In tab window. Click Yes if prompted to select a new plugin.  

7 - On the Name and notes field , enter a configuration name such as 'lpvt' (you can leave Notes description blank) and click Next.

8 - On the USB Device type field select or verify Default (HID Keyboard Emulation) displays.

9 - The Ignore Unknown Characters field should to ‘Do Not Send Barcodes with Unknown Characters’. Then click Next.

10 - Select Code 128 from the drop down list to select your bar code type. Leave all other values AS IS and click Next.

11 - Select 'Append an enter key' radio dial and click Next.

12 - Leave all other values as-is on the General tab or adjust personal settings such as the Beeper volume  

13 - Click Next again.

14 - Click Save file to PC on the top menu bar.  

15 - Save your file to your PC in the configuration file directory filename (we suggest something with 'vt' or ‘virtual_terminal’ in it).

16 - Click Load to Scanner from the top menu bar.

17 - Select your scanner to start the upload and observe progress meter until 100% complete.

18 - After upload is complete, click the Close tab.

19 - At the top menu bar, click 'Data View' tab.

20 - Double click your scanner

21 - Click HID Data (first in row). At this point your scanner should scan and identify bar code numbers inside Virtual Terminal at the Swipe Card/Hand Key Mobile # prompt

Configuring Zebra Bar Code Scanner for Virtual Terminal
