How to Flag or Block Patrons from Accessing Guest WiFi

Operators can flag or block any device from being able to use the guest WiFi service. Simply login to your WiFi Dashboard from REPORTING> WiFi Dashboard inside your back office. Go to Reports>Guest Connections

Click on or search for the guest you wish to block and open their guest profile page. The guest profile page will display whenever you click on any guest information throughout the WiFi dashboard (as long as you have permissions). The guest profile area displays information about the guests that use your WiFi system.

There are five available functions on the Guest Profile screen as follows:

  1. Unsubscribe will be toggled to the Guests reported preference. Ignore this field since we opt the patron into your permission based loyalty database upon initial sign in and your patron has the ability to opt out of messages anytime by clicking unsubscribe links or texting STOP back to a short or long code. If you need to manually unsubscribe a guest’s email or text marketing permissions return back to the back office and go to Patrons>Patron Search>Edit from or tap EDIT from Virtual Terminal. Scroll down to the privacy toggle switches for receiving messages and configure as desired.
  2. Flagging a Guest will make that guest be treated like a New Guest the next time they try to connect through a splash page. This means the Guest will see the New Guest splash page instead of the Returning Guest splash page and be given an opportunity to connect using the same or a different social login option (if configured).
  3. Blocking a Guest will mean that Guest will no longer be able to access WiFi through the guest WiFi platform.
  4. Export will export all of the personal information collected about the Guest from the WiFi connection service.
  5. Clear will delete all personal information associated to the Guest inside the WiFi Dashboard. However, their data will still be available in your loyalty database. If you want to delete a patron’s information permanently, you can do so from Patrons> Patron Search> Action> Delete.

In order to proceed with blocking a guest from accessing your guest WiFi, tap the “Block” button in the Guest Profile.  You will see the option to configure a message to display to the user and the date you want the guest to be unblocked or make it permanent.

The next time the guest uses their device to try to access the guest WiFi they will be unable to connect and the message will be displayed, for example:
