The Text to Join list building service allows operators to create a primary registration (signup) keyword patrons text to an abbreviated phone number known as a short code. This action allows patrons to join your list/VIP/rewards program and (usually) activate a signup stored value bonus or digital coupon as configured in Automated Promotions> Account Activation. For example, customers might text “Crispy” to 55678 (our USA short code) or text “prime” to 70734 (our Canadian short code). Once a valid keyword is texted to the short code the system sends back an opt in message containing a bounce back link inside the patron’s SMS message stream. Once this link is tapped, it opens your customized signup form. The whole process of texting, tapping and completing the signup form end to end can usually be completed in about 30-45 seconds. It’s a convenient and fast way to enroll patrons into your database based on your ability to advertise the keyword.
Keywords must be unique and not shared by any other business utilizing the same short code. Since the keyword must be unique operators often abbreviate their business name if the desired keyword is already reserved by another client. If your business name is Keystone Automotive Group, for example, then we’d recommend setting “KAG” or “keyauto” if another client has already reserved “Keystone” or “auto”. Keywords are always subject to availability and once successfully reserved, belongs to you for as long as your service subscription remains active.
You can find your keyword (or create one) from SETTINGS> Registration Settings inside the back office. Scroll down to the Text to Join section and you will see the field to view or create your Text to Join keyword. From this section you can customize every aspect of the Text to Join experience including the H1/H2 header fields and on screen confirmation messages that display back to patrons after successful signup. Customize as desired.
