Clover Gift/Loyalty Printed Receipt Field Definitions

The graphic below is a visual of a typical Clover receipt after a successful gift/loyalty transaction.  The top portion of the receipt comes directly from the Clover Register app totaling the items purchased and cost. There is a split Gift/Loyalty Details section in the lower half. Scroll down below to review definitions of each field.

Definitions

Gift/Loyalty ID
This ID is either the physical gift and/or rewards card ID# (as encoded on the mag stripe and printed on the card itself) OR the internal identification number of a card-less loyalty member in your database.

Trans Number

Every transaction has a unique transaction number to identify the specific transaction. The transaction number displays inside patron activity reports and the online Reconciliation Report, available from REPORTING> Reconciliation Report. The transaction number value is also used to process voids by voiding out a specific transaction as if it never happened using either the Loyal Patron Clover app or Virtual Terminal inside the back office.

Activated

The Activated field displays, at a glance (Yes/No), whether loyalty signup was completed by the patron via any list building source (Text to Join, Online, Kiosk, WiFi, etc.). In the example receipt above notice the customer’s name (Lauren Duffy) displays under the Gift/Loyalty details section. The name displays since the patron completed signup successfully and activated her loyalty account (Activated = Yes).  If Activated = No then the signup process was either partially completed or never completed.

All separately printed gift cards show Activated = No by default, which is perfectly normal. Gift value is redeemable regardless of the card’s loyalty activation status.

A partially completed signup occurs when patrons text your unique Text to Join keyword but then ignore the bounce-back link that returns to their text stream requesting they tap and complete your custom signup form. In this case the patron’s mobile number is captured but that’s all we have. We’re missing their name, birthday, email address and other details you intend to collect as configured in SETTINGS> Registration Settings of the merchant back office. Clerks can still issue rewards to these partially signed up customers for transaction flow efficiency. However, we block redemption by default so although rewards can be circulated to these customers, rewards can’t be redeemed until the patron completes signup successfully from any of our various list building sources (Text to Join, Online, Kiosk, WiFi). This default redemption block setting can be turned off under SETTINGS> Transaction Settings inside the back office but we don’t recommend toggling it off for data collection reasons.

Redeemed

The amount redeemed at checkout from either the patron’s available gift balance and/or reward balance. This value reduces the amount of the bill the customer owes from Clover Register during checkout.

Membership and Membership Status

If enabled, the Membership field displays what membership class the patron is affiliated (e.g., Gold, VIP, Platinum, Beer Club etc.)  Patrons affiliated in a membership class may have purchased this membership or been upgraded for free and entitled to special value not available to every other loyalty member. The Memberships module is an optional application. Membership transactions can be recorded in the standalone Loyal Patron app inside Clover. Please review Membership Classes Overview for more information about memberships and how to create different tiers of loyalty in your database.

Gift Bal

The currently, available Gift Card/Account balance your patron has available to redeem toward a sales ticket using the Register function integrated with the Loyal Patron app.  Remember, by default, gift value is redeemed first followed by rewards next during a redemption transaction for operators who circulate combo gift/rewards cards as opposed to stand-alone gift cards.

Rewards Bal

The currently available Rewards balance your patron has available to redeem toward a sales ticket using the Register function integrated with the Loyal Patron app.

Comp Bal

The Comp balance tracks items in single integer format as opposed to $X.XX currency. Operators can name their Comp balance anything (e.g., ‘Games’, ‘Item of Choice’, ‘Pizza Slices’, ‘Dessert’, etc.)  The ‘Comp’ balance is loaded and redeemed using the stand-alone Loyal Patron app inside Clover. This feature is not integrated with Clover Register during checkout.

Custom Footer Fields

Operators can add custom messages (“Thanks for visiting! “Have a nice day!”) to the footer of receipts from SETTINGS>Locations>Location EDIT inside the merchant back office.
