Instructions for Tethering a Clover Mini to a Clover Station

Requirement Summary

You will need the following items:

-A Clover Station

-A Clover Mini

-The white USB-A to USB-B cable included with your Clover setup kit.  

In addition, you will need to install the USB Pay Display app from the Clover App market.

Adjust Clover Payment Settings (if applicable)

If, after tapping the Loyal Patron button, you are seeing an extra (and unnecessary) screen display showing sale amount and message "Customer is choosing a payment method" with a Cancel button off to the right you will need to disable this screen. Navigate to Setup> Payments and verify the checkbox option for "Automatically take payments of Commectwd Device" is deselected as shown below. Delselecting this checkbox should remove the aforementioned screen.

Loyalty Identification Screen

Upon successful tethering, the Clover Mini  will show new customer facing screens when invoking the Loyal Patron app from the Clover Station.

The first screen customers will see is the Gift Card/Loyalty Account Identification screen. This screen will look very similiar to the Station version of this screen set against a blue background. From this screen the customer can identify their account by inputting their 10 digit mobile phone number on the keypad OR tapping Swipe if they have a card to swipe OR tapping Scan if they have a card or eGift card to scan.

Profile Screen with Redemption Option

Upon a successful mobile phone number match (or card swipe or scan) the next split screen shows the customer's balances and information on the left side of the screen along with the sale details on the right side. The customer has the option to tap Redeem and cash out all available balances toward the sale. Customers do not have an option to redeem a smaller portion of their available balance toward the sale. They will either tap Redeem to redeem all available value up to the amount of the sale or tap No Redeem which issues the customer rewards according to program parameters without discounting the sale by a redemption amount.

If a customer wishes to redeem a specific amount of value lower then their available balance the clerk will need to manually record that lower redemption amount from their Clover Station screen which supports manually redemption of any amount.

No Matching Loyalty Profile with Opt In Option

If no matching mobile phone number is in your loyalty database a new screen will display prompting the customer with the ability to join by tapping a button. This button will invoke your Text to Join keyword as configured in SETTINGS> Registration Settings. This action will send the customer a text message with a link to your custom signup form the customer can complete on their own.

This article includes instructions for tethering your CloverMini device to a Clover Station where the Clover Mini will be customer facing for guest interactivity with Clover apps. This configuration will enable loyal members to identify themselves (instead of clerks) and select whether they would like to redeem available balances toward their current order.
