Kiosk Setup Instructions for iPad

Please note some users configure their kiosk on an iPad by downloading KIOSK PRO LITE from the Apple app store. However, you can alternatively follow the steps below to set “Guided Access” on the iPad, without downloading an extra app.

1. Power on iPad and slide to unlock.

2. Configure WiFi for Internet connectivity. Open Settings - WiFi and configure the tablet for your own password protected Wi-Fi use appropriate for internal system devices (i.e., not free guest Wi-Fi that automatically expires the session after a short duration).

3. Configure Guided Access to lock kiosk screen in place.

    A. From the Settings app, tap on General.

    B. Tap on Accessibility.

    C. Tap on Guided Access under the Learning section.

    D. Toggle the switch to turn ON Guided Access.

    E. Tap on Passcode Settings.

    F. Tap Set Guided Access Passcode and set a passcode you and your staff can easily remember to turn ON/OFF guided access.

    G. Toggle Accessibility Shortcut to On, which allows you to triple-click the Home button and enter/exit Guided Access at any time.

4. Configure Kiosk to stay on continuously.

    A. From Settings app, tap on General (for older models or tap Display and Brightness (for newer models).

    B. Tap Auto-Lock and set to Never. The kiosk screen will run continuously when charged. Adjust brightness as desired.

5. Open Safari web browser and add your kiosk URL received by Technical Support to the address bar to load your custom kiosk.

6. Tap the options icon at the top of your browser and locate the Add to Home Screen (+) option and tap it. Name your kiosk direct link and tap Add.  This action will add the kiosk link to your iPad home screen for ease of launch.

7. Find your new kiosk “app” on your home screen and tap to launch.

8. Triple tap the Home button quickly to launch Guided Access and press Start. Your kiosk should display FULL screen and not display any standard Safari address bar or related links.  It is now ready for use.

At any time or to shut the iPad down at night, tap the Home button 3x quickly and enter the passcode you created to disable Guided Access and regain full ability to use the iPad without being locked on your kiosk webpage. When Guided Access is disabled you may now shut down the iPad.
