Kiosk Troubleshooting for Android Tablets

Requirements
This article assumes you already followed the steps in Kiosk Setup Instructions for Android Tablets.

In addition, you may need kiosk login access (separate credentials) in order to resolve. Contact Technical Support for assistance setting or resetting your kiosk login credentials.

**HELPFUL TIP**
A “HARD REBOOT” is a great way to resolve most problems with your kiosk tablet. To do this:
1. Make sure your tablet is plugged in to a power source.
2. Press the power button firmly for approximately 45 seconds. When you see the battery icon appear on the screen, release the power button.
3. Proceed to restart the device by pressing the power button until you see the Android icon appear on the screen.

Issue: After launching the Kiosk Browser App, the screen display is all white.

Fix: This is either because no Wi‐Fi connection has been established or because the kiosk URL has not yet been set. To setup your Wi‐Fi connection,

  1. UNHIDE the android bar if not already visible
  2. Click on the digital clock display on the lower right corner of the screen
  3. Click on the clock a second time to expand the menu
  4. Click on Wi‐Fi connections
  5. Recycle the WIFI from ON to OFF and back to ON

Issue: The tablet appears frozen or won’t turn on.

Fix: Perform a “hard‐reboot” on the tablet. To do this, make sure the tablet is first plugged in. Next, hold down the power button for an extended period of time (around 45 seconds) until you see the battery terminal display on the screen. Remove your finger from the power button and attempt to restart the device.

Issue: I can’t find my android menu bar along the bottom of the screen.

Fix: This is most likely because the Full!screen app is ON. Find your hotspot button located on the top left or bottom left of the screen. Press the hotspot to return to your homescreen. Find the Full screen App and click on it. Then click the ENABLE button to DISABLE the app. This should now display your android menu bar.

Issue: The kiosk screen display rotated on me and I can’t seem to fix it.

Fix: You will need to modify your orientation settings inside the kiosk platform.

  1. Login to your kiosk account using the credential provided by Technical Support.
  2. Navigate to Mobile Tools> Digital Kiosk Wizard
  3. Tap Manage Devices button
  4. Click on the device that is having the rotation issue.
  5. Click on the orientation and select the option to correct the issue.
  6. Click SAVE and then click DONE.
