Loading Gift Card/Account Value through Clover

Open the Clover Register

Select the preconfigured Gift Card Load button. 

Enter the amount collected from the customer for gift value to load. 

Select Set Price and press the Pay button in lower left corner.  

Before selecting payment type from customer to checkout select Loyal Patron button as shown below.  

When Loyal Patron app opens either take out a new gift card from your box and swipe it when prompted (most common) OR you can lookup an existing customer that previously signed up for rewards to manually add gift value to their existing patron account. Existing patron lookups can be done by typing in the patron’s existing card ID or mobile phone number OR using the Patron Search button to look up the customer by their name.  

Select the Back button on the screen to return to the Transaction Type menu inside the Loyal Patron app.  

Select Load Gift transaction type inside the Loyal Patron app. 

Enter matching amount to load that was previously entered above in Clover Register. 

Tap Confirm button followed by Finalize to process the transaction live. A confirmation receipt will display on screen showing the gift load and increasing the patron account’s gift balance. 

Return back to the Clover Register and accept cash or credit card from the patron for the gift card amount as you would normally do during checkout.

Redeeming Gift Card/Account Value through Clover 

By default, the system withdraws funds from the patron’s GIFT BALANCE first followed by the patron’s REWARD BALANCE next unless configured otherwise. If your business circulates separate gift cards that do not combine rewards on the same card this point is moot because the system will exclusively redeem GIFT VALUE only in this context. If, however, your business circulates a combination Gift & Rewards card with both applications running simultaneously, then gift value (if available) is redeemed first if the patron has BOTH gift and reward balances on the same card/account. Once the gift balance has been exhausted the reward balance is withdrawn next.  

The process for redeeming gift value is exactly the same as redeeming rewards. See Issuing and Redeeming Rewards (or Gift Value) through Clover for instructions.
